Jim Spence

Alan and the team fitted a new 6ft fence after the storms damaged our old fence ands we are over the moon with the job, our back garden is now private again and we can enjoy the summer months. The workers were very friendly and helpful and kept our property tidy at all times.

Glenrothes
Our fence in Glenrothes was starting to rot and break away so we called Alan after a referral from a friend, although the quote was not the cheapest the job was done to a standard we are happy with and to be honest i have tried going for the cheapest quote for other work on my house and it ended up a horror story. Overall i would recommend Alan and his men to anyone.

Feather Edge Fencing

Feather edge fence panels are when the slats overlap each other. One side of the individual slats is thicker than the other. By overlaying the slats, you produce a very strong panel. The slats are fixed onto 3 or 4 back rails. This is what gives it extra strength. It is finished off with a fantastic looking weather top cap. This is an extra piece of timber on the top that deflects the rain off the panel. This helps keep water off which means less damage to the sawn edge of the slat..

All of our panels come pre treated so you havenโ€™t got to treat for the first two years.

Feather edges are pretty much 90% of our business and our customers like them because they are very heavy duty. They are much longer-lasting than the old ship lap fencing panel and they tend to be better made. They really do look better and sturdier and when installed in between concrete pillars they are easier to maintain.

By sitting your feather edge panel on top of a concrete board you are keeping the timber away from the ground reducing the chance of moisture rotting the fence. By using the gravel board you are really prolonging the life of the panel.

Open And Closed Slat Fencing

This type of fencing is perfect for providing you with privacy and a highly secure boundary. Itโ€™s also a more economical fencing option. Its one of the most popular fencing systems for residential and commercial properties today.

Slat panel fencing should always be raised slightly from the ground to avoid the timbers rotting. Or have concrete or treated wood gravel boarding placed at the bottom to stop the panels from rotting. AMC Fencing strongly recommends treating any fencing with a good quality wood protection coating. A product that will penetrate the wood and protects it from the inside out. If a slat panel fence is not protected from the strong Scottish elements in this way then it will warp, split, or even rot.
